NTPC Green Energy in Focus as 105 MW Shajapur Solar Project Becomes Fully Operational
New Delhi, March 13: Shares of NTPC Green Energy Ltd will be in focus on Thursday after its subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, announced the commercial operation of the second and final phase of its 105 MW Shajapur Solar Project in Madhya Pradesh.
Shajapur Solar Project Now Fully Operational
In an exchange filing, NTPC Green Energy stated:
“Following successful commissioning, the second and final capacity of 50 MW out of the 105 MW Shajapur Solar Project (Unit-1) at Shajapur Solar Park, MP, has been declared commercially operational with effect from 00:00 Hrs on March 13, 2025.”
The first phase (55 MW) of the project was commissioned on November 29, 2024. With this, the entire 105 MW project is now fully operational, boosting NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio.
Financial Performance in Q3FY25
NTPC Green Energy reported a strong earnings performance in the third quarter of FY25:
• Net Profit: ₹89.4 crore, a 52.3% increase from ₹58.7 crore in Q3FY24.
• Revenue: Grew 4.1% to ₹460.9 crore from ₹442.6 crore.
• EBITDA: Declined 2.3% to ₹384.6 crore from ₹393.6 crore.
• EBITDA Margin: Dropped to 83.5% from 88.9%, indicating increased costs or lower profitability per unit of revenue.
Market Outlook
The commissioning of the Shajapur Solar Project strengthens NTPC Green Energy’s position in India’s renewable energy sector. However, the decline in EBITDA and margin contraction may raise investor concerns.
